Knoxville Tennessee Birth Photography

Jude Miller and Holly Tucker have become friends of ours over the past several years. They own a chiropractic and wellness business in our town, Active Family Sports and Chiropractic. Jude and Holly certainly help to keep me and my family feeling healthy but beyond that, we have come to cherish their friendship! We have photographed their sweet family for several years now, some you can see here, as well as Jude and Holly’s vow renewal wedding. When Holly asked if we would photograph the birth of their second son, we jumped at the chance. This would be my first birth to photograph, and let me tell you, it was truly THE most amazing thing I have ever witnessed. See, I was a surgical technologist for years in my early adult life. I scrubbed general surgeries i.e. gallbladders, bowel cases, orthopedic cases and chest cases for lung surgeries, as well as some specialized things, including c-section births occasionally. C-sections are very clinical though. I had never witnessed a serene birth, with music in the background, the lights low, and love filling the room from everyone that walked in, until Noah’s birth.

Holly was nothing short of amazing! She was obviously in pain when I arrived, but man oh man, was she ever a trooper. I’ve never witnessed pure strength and raw emotion like I saw in Holly that evening. I’ve also never witnessed the true quiet and serenity of a natural water birth and how the environment in which a baby is born affects him. Noah didn’t cry but was tranquil and peaceful. It was easy to see, having come from a very clinical background, how this natural, water birth process could be a great thing for both mother and baby.

I had a little time upon arrival to take some detail shots of the room, the clock, the door plaque, etc.; those things I thought may help preserve the memories for Jude and Holly, that they didn’t think to pay too much attention to on that day. Then when it was time for Holly to start pushing, it took everything in me to not cry with each pain she felt. Noah was born and it was immediate relief, and immediate joy. It was beyond any thing I could ever imagine.

Thank you Holly and Jude for allowing us to be present during this miracle of your son being brought in to our world. I can say it was a blessing to the depths of my soul and something I will always remembermom resting during labor waiting for birthmom resting during labor waiting for birthdetails in knoxville birthing roomdetails in birthing room in Knoxville tennesseeknoxville birthing roommom resting during labor waiting for birthmom resting during labor waiting for birthmom resting during labor waiting for birthmom resting during labor waiting for birthmom resting during labor waiting for birthmom resting during labor waiting for birthdetails in knoxville tennessee birthing roommom resting during labor waiting for birthmom resting during labor waiting for birthdoula midwife in birthing room in knoxville tennesseemom resting during labor waiting for birthmom resting during labor waiting for birthmom resting during labor waiting for birthmom resting during labor waiting for birthmom resting during labor waiting for birthmom resting during labor waiting for birthmom resting during labor waiting for birthmom during labor waiting for birthmom resting during labor waiting for birthnewborn baby water birth in knoxville tennesseetime baby was born during natural birth in knoxville tennesseemom resting after natural water birthdad looking at his newborn after water birth in knoxville tennesseebaby feet of newborn after water birth in knoxville tennesseemom holding newborn baby after natural water birth in knoxville tennesseemom holding newborn baby after natural water birth in knoxville tennesseemom holding newborn baby after natural water birth in knoxville tennesseemom holding newborn baby after natural water birth in knoxville tennesseemom holding newborn baby after natural water birth in knoxville tennesseemom holding newborn baby after natural water birth in knoxville tennesseedad cutting umbilical cord of newborn baby after natural water birth in knoxville tennesseemom holding newborn baby after natural water birth in knoxville tennesseemom holding newborn baby after natural water birth in knoxville tennesseedad holding newborn baby after natural water birth in knoxville tennesseedad taking a selfie of he and mom holding newborn baby after natural water birth in knoxville tennesseedad kissing newborn baby after natural water birth in knoxville tennesseemom holding newborn baby after natural water birth in knoxville tennesseemom holding newborn baby after natural water birth in knoxville tennesseemom holding newborn baby after natural water birth in knoxville tennesseenewborn baby feet after natural water birth in knoxville tennesseenewborn baby being weighed after natural water birth in knoxville tennesseenewborn baby being measured after natural water birth in knoxville tennesseenewborn baby being weighed after natural water birth in knoxville tennesseelistening to newborn baby heartbeat after natural water birth in knoxville tennesseegetting newborn baby feet prints after natural water birth in knoxville tennesseemom dad newborn and midwife following natural water birth in knoxville tennesseemom dad newborn midwife and nurse following natural water birth in knoxville tennesseeAs very special thank you to Lisa Ross Birth and Women’s Center for allowing us to photograph Noah’s birth!
